We decided to stay at
Destiny Beach again this year, coming from the Wet Coast (Vancouver,BC)
and badly needing escape from the rain. We got just what we needed -
hot sun, great private beach away from the tourist spots, and pleasant
treatment by the hosts, Chris and Trish. We were a bit disappointed the
pool was not available but it was the fault of the supplier of the pool
liner who ordered the wrong size. By June 20th it was going to be back
in use. Meanwhile we were given a modest discount because of the
missing service.
The kids and their kids had a great time all 4 days we were there,
practically living on the beach in the hot sun. Meanwhile my wife and I
took the afternoons to go to nearby wineries and had exotic dishes and
great wines while absorbing all the warm sunshine and light breezes
near the orchards. I golfed at the Osoyoos Golf Club and got to enjoy
one of the most varied and beautiful golf courses (the Desert Course is
the best) and, although I played terribly, had a great time.
The rooms are showing their signs of aging and the owner keeps
threatening to re-build. But until then, for off season rates, we could
not complain. All the basics were there to have bbqs and home cooked
meals for the family. The gazebo and deck near the beach was a great
place to meet other guests and join in the guitar music until the wee
hours.
We have been going to Destiny Beach for 6 years except last year when
they were going to renovate (but didn't in the end) and will keep going
as long as we feel the simplicity and friendliness of the hosts stays
the way they have been. I hope they are still there next year...
